Slack app

Run incident response from Slack

Alerts landing in a channel is table stakes. The Alertum app works both ways: acknowledge and resolve incidents, pause monitors during deploys, check who's on call, and open maintenance windows — without switching tabs.

/alertum statusFleet snapshot — what's up, what's down, open incidents.
/alertum ack <id>Claim an incident without leaving the channel.
/alertum oncallWho's paged right now, and who's up next.
/alertum pause <monitor>Silence a monitor while you deploy.
/alertum maintenanceOpen a maintenance window from a modal.
/alertum ask <question>Plain-language answers about monitors and incidents.

What it can access

Slack shows you this exact list before you install. Nothing more is requested.

  • Post messages

Send incident alerts and command replies to the channels you choose.

  • See channel names

So the /alertum status, monitor, and maintenance modals can list channels to notify.

  • Add the /alertum command

Registers the slash command your team types in any channel.

  • See basic profile info

Name and email, so acknowledgments and resolutions show who acted.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Alertum account first?

No — installing to Slack is the account creation. Click “Add to Slack,” choose your workspace, and Alertum resolves or creates your account automatically, the same way “Sign in with Google” works.

Can the app take actions, or does it only send alerts?

Both. It posts incident and monitor alerts to channels you pick, and your team can acknowledge, resolve, pause, resume, and manage maintenance windows directly from Slack commands.

Which channel do alerts go to?

You choose per monitor when you set it up (via /alertum monitor or the dashboard) — alerts aren't broadcast to every channel by default.

Can I remove the app later?

Yes — remove it from Slack's App Directory management page, or disconnect the workspace from Alertum's integration settings. Both revoke access immediately.
