Terms of Service
The rules and conditions for using Alertum services and products.
Last updated: May 24, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Alertum platform and services (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Alertum provides a SaaS platform for uptime monitoring, synthetic journey monitoring, heartbeat monitoring, incident management, alerting, escalation policy management, on-call scheduling, maintenance windows, public and private status pages, diagnostics, and related operational observability tooling (collectively, the “Service”). Features available to you depend on your subscription plan.
3. Accounts and Workspaces
You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Provide accurate and current registration information. Do not share account access with unauthorized parties.
Alertum supports team workspaces. Workspace administrators are responsible for managing team member access and ensuring all members comply with these Terms.
4. Customer Responsibilities
As a user of the Service, you are responsible for:
- The accuracy and completeness of your monitor, journey, and heartbeat configurations.
- Confirming you own or have explicit authorization to monitor any URL, endpoint, domain, IP address, or service you configure within Alertum.
- Keeping your account credentials, API keys, and team access secure.
- Managing team membership and promptly revoking access for departed members.
- The content published to public status pages, including ensuring it does not include sensitive or unauthorized information.
- Ensuring data you include in configurations, incidents, or comments complies with applicable laws.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose.
- Configure monitors to scan, probe, or send requests to systems you do not own or have explicit authorization to test.
- Generate excessive, abusive, or denial-of-service-like load on any target system or on Alertum infrastructure.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or security controls.
- Transmit malware, phishing content, or malicious payloads through the Service.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or extract proprietary algorithms or data from the Service.
- Resell or sublicense Service access without our written permission.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or other users.
6. Monitoring and Alerting Disclaimer
Alertum is designed to help you detect availability issues, performance degradation, and incidents. However, Alertum does not guarantee that every outage, degradation, latency issue, or service failure will be detected, or that alerts will be delivered within any specific time frame.
Monitoring checks depend on external factors including network conditions, DNS resolution, target server behavior, and third-party notification delivery infrastructure. You remain solely responsible for operating, securing, and maintaining your own production systems. Alertum is not a substitute for full operational ownership and should not be your only mechanism for incident detection.
7. Status Pages
The Service enables you to create and publish public and private status pages. You control the content and are solely responsible for what you publish. Do not publish false, misleading, defamatory, or unlawful content. Alertum reserves the right to suspend or remove status pages that violate these Terms or applicable law.
8. Maintenance Windows and Suppression
Alertum provides maintenance window functionality to suppress alerts and notifications during planned downtime periods. You are responsible for configuring maintenance windows accurately. Alertum is not liable for missed alerts or incidents that occur outside correctly configured maintenance windows.
9. Billing and Subscriptions
Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis depending on your selection. All fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. Payment is processed through our payment processor (currently Stripe). By providing payment information you authorize charges to your payment method for applicable fees and applicable taxes.
You are responsible for all applicable taxes except those based on Alertum’s net income. If a payment fails, we will attempt to notify you; continued non-payment may result in account suspension or termination.
10. Trials, Limits, and Usage
We may offer free trial periods at our discretion. All Terms apply during a trial. After a trial ends, you must subscribe to continue using paid features. Your subscription plan determines usage limits such as number of monitors, team members, check frequency, data retention, and status pages. Exceeding limits may result in feature restrictions, upgrade prompts, or additional charges as described in your plan. You may upgrade at any time; downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.
11. Customer Data and Content
You retain ownership of all data and content you submit to the Service (“Customer Data”). By using the Service, you grant Alertum a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit Customer Data solely to provide the Service. You represent you have all rights necessary to submit Customer Data and that its use will not infringe third-party rights or violate any law. Alertum does not sell your Customer Data.
12. Integrations
The Service may allow you to connect third-party services such as Slack, PagerDuty, webhooks, and ticketing or communication platforms. Your use of third-party integrations is subject to those parties’ own terms and privacy policies. Alertum is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or data practices of third-party integrations.
13. Service Availability and Maintenance
We aim to provide a reliable, high-availability service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We will endeavor to provide advance notice of planned maintenance where reasonably practicable.
14. Beta and Experimental Features
We may offer beta or experimental features from time to time. These are provided “as is” without warranty, may change or be discontinued at any time, and should not be relied upon for production-critical use unless explicitly stated otherwise.
15. Intellectual Property
Alertum and its licensors own all intellectual property rights in the Service, including software, interfaces, logos, trademarks, and documentation. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your internal business purposes during your subscription term.
16. Confidentiality and Security
Each party agrees to keep the other’s confidential information strictly confidential and to use it only as necessary to fulfill obligations under these Terms. This obligation does not apply to information that is publicly available, independently developed, or required to be disclosed by law.
17. Suspension and Termination
You may cancel your account at any time through account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period unless immediate deletion is requested. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately for violations of these Terms, abusive behavior, non-payment, or when required by law. Upon termination, your access ceases and data may be deleted per our retention policy.
18. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. ALERTUM DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
19. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ALERTUM’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE FEES PAID BY YOU IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. IN NO EVENT SHALL ALERTUM BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
20. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Alertum and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your Customer Data, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, by email or in-app notice. Continued use after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance.
22. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws specified by Alertum’s operating entity or as otherwise stated in an applicable order form or written agreement. In the absence of a specific designation, disputes will be resolved in the jurisdiction where Alertum’s primary business operations are based.
